Check your IQ with Free and Printable IQ Sample Questions

Free and Printable IQ Sample Questions-2013-14

After the success of my blogs on Wonderlic Test Sample Questions, Auditing jobs, Administrative Jobs question and Accounting Jobs, now I want to create this blog for readers to do test there IQ. In my first IQ test blog you will learn little bit about the test and in my other coming blogs you will see some practice sample questions.

What is an IQ test?

IQ is an acronym for Intelligence Quotient. So what is IQ? The IQ is a measurement of your intelligence and is expressed in a number.

What IQ test measure?

The IQ test measures a snapshot of a person’s mental ability as compared to others of the same age. Some cognitive abilities can be accurately assessed, which is the goal of the IQ test. To measure mental ability legitimately requires standardized and culture-fair questions. Professional IQ tests and those accepted by Mensa, have been screened and validated over many years to be considered reliable instruments. Years of research revealed that high IQ scores are predicators of professional and academic achievement.

How IQ Scoring works?

A person's IQ can be calculated by having the person take an intelligence test. The average IQ is 100. If you achieve a score higher than 100, you are smarter than the average person, and a lower score means you are (somewhat) less smart.
According to the expert, intelligence, as defined by one’s IQ, can be divided into eight tiers:
•40-54 is considered indicative of severe mental handicap. Less than one percent of people completing the Autumn Group’s IQ test receive a score in this range.
•55-69 is defined as challenged; 2.3 percent of test takers comprise this group.
•70-84 is below average.
•85-114 is average, a group comprised of 68 percent of test takers.
•115 129 is above average.
People who score between 130 and 144, only 2.3 percent of test takers, are considered to be gifted. Less than 1 percent of people scored in the genius range, which falls between 145 and 159. Anything higher than 160 is considered extraordinary genius. The highest IQ ever recorded is 210, scored by Kim Ung-Yon of Korea.

Most definitions of intelligence have limited variations, and one’s IQ may increase or decrease based on age, the particular test and stressors at the time of testing.

This is a sample IQ test meant to provide insight as to the type of thinking skills measured on a real IQ test. The score provided is not a valid IQ score based on a legitimate IQ scale, but rather a percentage based on the number of correct answers and the total number of questions. Answers are fully-explained (unlike most other free IQ tests) when revealed. This example Intelligence Quotient Test includes analogy, anagram, palindrome, serial / sequential reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, inductive reasoning, deductive reasoning, verbal reasoning, spatial visualization, spatial relation, numeric pattern, mathematical reasoning, letter pattern, reading comprehensive, and general world knowledge problems.

Why Take an IQ Test

The majority of IQ test takers simply take the test to determine whether or not they are intelligent. There are, however, some practical uses for IQ testing in corporate and academic settings. Some employers may require candidates for certain positions have a minimum IQ, for example. The military uses a type of IQ test, the ASVAB, to determine the direction that a soldier should take when enlisting. IQ tests may also be used to help employers determine the place one should occupy in the workplace.
IQ tests are used by some schools to determine admittance, even at the elementary level. Children are often given these tests during the admission process at private schools or specialized schools, such as those for gifted children. IQ tests are also used for personal bragging rights, or acceptance into organizations such as Mensa or the High IQ Society.
